I remember the BSODs, but i am not sure about general instability.
It has been a long time since i have had to deal with this issue.

The GIGABYTE B450 Gaming X officially supports Windows 7 on Zen and Zen+ Processors, And it works flawlessly on newer CPUs as long as you use the Backported XHCI driver from Windows 8 and use the 'High Performance' power plan in the Control Panel.
