I'm not leaving behind users of 8.x, it's the same as Firefox 115 on 8 Well, if I want to use Firefox 115 ESR on Windows 8 I can do it. And in fact I am also doing it. But the idea behind R3dfox is to use a modern version of Firefox on Windows 7 & 8. I quote from the project page: Eclipse r3dfo...

Well, the default dark theme is doing that with Firefox and LibreWolf but not with R3dfox anymore. The latest version which can have the black title bar is version 122.
I understand the improvements for Windows 7 users but Windows 8-8.1 should not be left behind.

Well done with JPEG XL, it's now working fine and also on this HDR JXL page as well: https://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/hdr/hdr-jxl.php I also like the fog effect on the title bar, I find it really classy  However, and since you are able to tweak the title bar, as a Windows 8.1 user if o...

why would it be inconsistent in the stuff I do tweak? I don't know what is going on but I have the feeling some things don't work in a VM the same as on a "normal" system. Sometimes it takes several long minutes before the file I've just downloaded is finally released by the system. Very ...

Executable files (.exe) are being accessed by a SYSTEM process that nothing can identify for a short period after being seen in explorer. In the past I've used Kerio Firewall on XP, the best firewall I've ever had. Nowadays I'm afraid it will be quite hard to find something that is still running on XP :? Port 53 is for DNS and port 67 for DHCP, so yes they must have access to the network. List of TCP and UDP ports: https://en.wikipedi...

Some buttons also look strange compared to official Firefox:

Firefox 115.9.1 ESR and 124.0.1 and R3dfox 122.0.1:
Not a big problem though, just FYI.

Remove telemetry is a good idea, of course. But don't lock Enhanced Tracking Protection or cookies like LibreWolf does. Keep in mind people will use R3dfox as a modern Firefox replacement on Windows 7 & 8, so IMHO it must behaves as close as Firefox will do. Whilst LibreWolf is really dedicated ...

IMHO R3dfox and LibreWolf are two different approaches, that's why I'm using both. R3dfox is just like Firefox to me, it works and behaves the same, whilst LibreWolf has specific security settings and some of its options are locked to enforce privacy. So the simplest and fastest thing to do would be...

Maybe a hint about the white menus: the background of the right click context menu is also white.
With dark theme and dark mode it should be black, or at least very dark, just like it was in version 122.
