Forced Upgrades & Microsoft Coercion: How it becomes a battle

(originally written 6/17/2016, by yours truly) Even beyond KB3035583 GWX, which I found slipped through the cracks of WU a few times, but wasn't currently installed on this PC (consider the hidden updates), I found this yesterday on my laptop... [image not available] Yes, that's right. Windows 10 wa...

Our Windows 7 work machines were absolutely fine, and our primary business software was still under Win 10 testing, although it was confirmed it would run, as it did in Win 8.1. I hated Windows 8.x, b...

My experience of getting Windows 7 working on antiquated hardware (Dell Dimension 9150/XPS 400)

A specific site that was recommended to me and helped me out tremendously... when I upgraded an older LGA775 Dell that started life as a Dimension 9100 I found in a dumpster... Windows 8 was the worst

Aside from ME, Windows 8 was the worst OS Microsoft ever released. At least it never had the BSOD constantly like ME, and 8.1 wasn't much of an improvement (functionality, yes a slight improvement). If I wanted a "tablet" style look, I would have bought a tablet. At least Microsoft could h...

Is XP x64 natively bootable from a USB?

Seems to be an issue for XP x64 specifically , which implies to me that... either nothing has been written to support its bootloader booting from USB, or Microsoft deliberately sabotaged USB booting support for it specifically for whatever reason. I'm gonna go with that. MS likely didn't want to al...
