Rant about Windows 10 here! [formerly titled Share your Windows 10 experience!!]

Ladies and gentlemen I have brilliant news: I just found that Microsoft quietly announced the retirement of Windows 10 to be 2025. No idea how true that is but idk. That's just the EOL date for Windows 10 RTM LTSB. Unless Windows 11 is real, (which I doubt) Windows 10 won't be going anywhere. maybe...

Cant switch from Integrated graphics to GPU

Ill see if i can disable that somehow. I only want my GPU to do all the work... Like I said before you bought it, you can't. It's why I jumped from my 4720HQ & 970m MSI to my 8770W. well, actually you can on MSi Laptops. Kinda... Using MSI dragon center you can choose wether you want an applica...

Check your BIOS - you normally change between GPU's in there. There should be an intergrated graphics on/off option. EDIT: I only just noticed the black screen when you disable it part - the card might be dead? If it's a physical card you can remove, then possibly try it in a different system to se...

Yes, another problem, this time with the GPU. So after installing all the drivers i noticed that the Laptop was still running on the Integrated Graphics (Intel HD 530) and not the built in GPU (Nvidia GeForce GTX 970m) Disabling the Integrated Graphics or uninstalling the Integrated Graphics driver ...

Rant about Windows 10 here! [formerly titled Share your Windows 10 experience!!]

Oh boy. Windows 10 may be the absolute worst experience I've ever had with Windows in my entire life. I've used it even before the damn thing even released. I joined the Insider Program and installed insider builds in the shitty laptop I had at the time around 10049. I used 9926 in a VM beforehand ...

BSoD "This Device is not fully ACPI Compliant"

To be fair, the system should be ACPI-compliant anyway in the first place considering its age: it's likely a bug within the supplied BIOS on the device. Yeah its probably because the previous owner extended the RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB. Ive read on the seven forums that people have also been recievei...

Windows 7 on Intel Skylake 6th gen?

I see no issue. Finding the drivers may be a challenge, if you don't already have them. I've upgraded at least 3 Dell Skylake desktops to Windows 7 from XP. Two of which were intel-based chipsets, and one hybrid nforce4 SLI Intel (Dell) edition. Each had their own challenges. Just make sure you hav...

It has 16 GB of RAM tho.
I think a i7 6th gen going up to 3.5 Ghz, a 970m and 16 GB RAM is a good configuration.

aside from optimus ofc

dunno if the GPU is upgradeable so in case of the 970m getting too slow i could replace it with a 980m

Extended Security Updates for WIN 7 SP1/Server 2008 & R2

tbh its not worth installing the ESU updates.
Im only waiting for POSReady 7 to reach end of extended support in october so that the devs can do the same trick as they did for POSReady 2009 on XP.

POSReady also has 1 more year of support and thus lasts untill 2024, longer than Windows 7 ESU.

Windows 7 ISOs updated to 2020-01 and 2016-09 with USB 3 and NVMe drivers

Main files and info needed Q: Why does the setup have the Windows 8 bootscreen? It also makes integrating NVMe and USB 3.0 support significantly easi...
