Re: General websites issues thread

I tried it with Serpent, that doesn´t work. I also tried different Useragents, for example NT 10.0 with Firefox 82.0, sometimes it just timed out and sometimes there was an instant message that my browser is not supported and I should download the Teams app. Of course that doesn´t work on XP either,...

Manually patching uxtheme.dll

Hey!

I tried to find a tutorial for patching uxtheme.dll on Windows 10 because I don´t really trust the Patchers that are out there. So does anybody know how to do it? Thanks

I didn´t ever used Steam because I´m not a gamer, the only games I ever played on a computer were Minesweeper and Pinball, but apparently they cut of support for XP and Vista, even older versions seem to refuse to run. Have you tried it with the extended kernel?

Yes, this method is meant for 8.0 users. If you have 8.1 you don´t have to do it that way. Like you said, you could just use the UI method instead.

I've had an account there effectively dormant since late 2015 or so and only ever logged into it recently to grab the Vista WU Client patch a while ago since no one else had mirrored it except our resident Iffy-chan lookalike @R3n So they had a patch for Windows Vista to support SHA-2 updates and j...

logonui.exe of Windows 7

I just made my Windows 10 look nicer with OpenShell, and it worked pretty well. However, I also wanted to replace logonui.exe with Windows 7 one but now I just have a black screen. It was possible in earlier versions of Windows. Here´s how I did it: I downloaded the Windows 7 logonui.exe, which is d...

Maybe, but actually not. The iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, even the iPhone 6, which doesn´t get any "feature updates", it is stuck at iOS 12, but it gets security updates to this day! And it is also not slow.

Re: What's the best version of MS Office in your opinion?

It still feels better than looking at Windows 9x-era icons on Windows XP, that's for certain. Always bugged me that XP had icons from 2K in certain areas, even when I was really young. Vista has almost none of that issue. I dont agree. But even Windows 10 has some XP designed windows in certain are...

Re: Re:

No, the exact opposite. Just wonder off the path and you will find unfinished/buggy stuff even after nearly 5 years from it's release. And that's the consequence of pulling what every big tech company has been doing lately, most notable with how iOS/MacOS has seen more or less tacked on new feature...

Re: What's the best version of MS Office in your opinion?

2003 looks insanely pretty when using it in combination with XP/2003. Not sure why 2002 even exists in any case, probably some kind of interim release of sorts as opposed to a real 'full release'. I do prefer 2002 and previous's photo editor, though. To be honest: I don´t like the Office 2003 UI tha...

Re: What's the best version of MS Office in your opinion?

Office 2000 doesn't require activation. It does. I always have to activate it. 2002 does aside from VLKs and one specific key (almost as famous as 'FCKGW') is usually used as MS never imposed blocking keys after specific updates on volume licence keys for 2002, unlike they did with most of the keys...

Re: What's the best version of MS Office in your opinion?

My favorite version is Office 2000, but on a Windows Vista - 10 system I would never want to use it, because it just doesn´t fit in. Any reason why 2000 over 2002? I'm assuming the activation is part of the reason (which a very well known VLK can circumvent), since there isn't much in the way of ne...

Re: Automatic Updates in Windows XP

Any luck? You didn't post back about it. Shortly: No. I already know the technique used specifically for Vista which patches the update engine to effectively detect "Vista 6003" as identical to "Vista 6002", which is arguably what was required in the first place, MS just forgot ...
