Windows 8.0 RTM does not want to update

Unread post by Win10-Hater »

Hello all, I have been experiencing this issue lately on my Win8.0 Pro x64 secondary laptop where it refuses to update. Windows Update shows error code 80072EFE on trying to update. I know about SHA-2 and discontinuation of update servers for Windows 2K, XP and Vista and that stuff, but has such a thing affected Windows 8 RTM as well? May I know the solution to this problem?

Note: The ISO I used is legit and is RTM, so there are absolutely no updates integrated. Windows is activated.
Huge fan of Windows Vista, 7, 8.x, XP, 2K, ME and Linux, especially Zorin Linux, Ubuntu, elementaryOS and Mint.
I hate Windows 10. I am the last person one could ever convince to downgrade to Windows 10.

Try to run this command as admin and restart:

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Some have reported success.

Not sure, but microsoft seem to kill 8.x slowly starting by killing it's stores and gradually increase from there; seen this happen for more people than not.

Windows 8.0 RTM does not want to update

Hello there, if anyone is finding a fix for updates on Windows 8 or Server 2012 "Build 9200", I found an update to fix the update server problem.

Download Link: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=2937636

To completely fix Windows 8 update, see the video below aside from KB2937636 (not my video, PM me for my channel):

If your running x86 version, your out of luck on this update, as this is supported only for x64, for Server 2012 Build 9200, 1st install the updates from the video and it's description below and install IE11 MSU installer after you those updates.

IE11 for Server 2012 Update: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4492872

Edit: Added the Internet Explorer 11 MSU Update for Server 2012 "KB4492872" to prevent user confusion. I strongly recommend not installing this update 1st as you need to follow instructions from the video posted above.
