NVIDIA patched driver installers for Windows 7 and 8

Unread post by blueclouds8666 »

Some time ago, I developed my own modded installers for NVIDIA drivers so I could use them for my personal systems. Eventually, it was clear to me that other people online were having the same issues as me, so I ended up sharing them with some. Now that NVIDIA has finally discontinued driver updates for legacy operating systems, this is a good moment for me to share them in this forum, so more people can find them if ever needed. All of my driver installers are labeled based on the changes that were applied to them:

- sha1mod: all the artificial limitations imposed by the installer have been removed, so it would no longer require the SHA-2 system update (KB4474419) or an active internet connection for its own certificate validation. This allows you to install NVIDIA drivers and all of its components (GeForce Experience, ShadowPlay, Optimus, HD Audio) on a clean and fully isolated Windows 7 SP1 install without any kind of system updates applied. In order to achieve this, I had to downgrade the installer and control panel components to prior versions, on top of other minor adjustments. The driver binary itself remains untouched, without a valid SHA-1 signature, so you will have to disable driver signature enforcement at the operating system to get it running.

- rtxmod: all the artificial limitations imposed by the driver binary have been removed so that any RTX 30 series cards can run over Windows 8 or 8.1. This specific binary mod was discovered by someone else, I only adapted it to a wider selection of driver versions and packaged it on a more convenient installer. The resulting driver is signed with a test certificate so Windows 8 wouldn't refuse to load it despite of driver signature enforcement being already disabled.

All of these are available for driver versions 466.77, 472.12 and 475.14. Additionally, NVIDIA Quadro driver variants are available for those who have a workstation card. Despite their filename, NVIDIA Quadro drivers also work as intended with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012. You can grab a copy of them at the link below.

NOTE: These drivers are provided as is, with no applicable warranty or support. The resulting software is purely experimental, as such, it may exhibit deficiencies or errors, or may not even function properly for the specified purpose.
