I've tried this in the past, while downloading a "monthly Rollup" outside of my own personal realm of support. I tried some trickery, to see if I could bypass any validity checks, which worked... However, after I installed the Monthly Rollup, Windows ultimately found it to be incompatible, and after restarting, reverted back to the previous state. I was warned ahead of time of possible side affects, and true, the WU log was erased. Previously installed updates still appear in appwiz.cpl/installed updates. Then I noticed some subtle issues with Win 7 and had to run Tweaking.com's Windows Repair. This corrected everything. It is on a "subscription only" basis, 12 months prepaid, available by some MS partners, and KB's or "Rollups" are readily available for download already to the public.
Thoughts?
