Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 on Windows 7 (and 8)

To note, Cyberpunk 2077 loads slower and performs a lot worse on Windows 7/8 than it does on Windows 10+. GPU usage seems to be low for seemingly no reason. If this is a VKD3D issue or some sort of artificial limitation, I'm not sure. If you can figure out a fix, it would be appreciated.

Also this doesn't work on AMD GPUs, you might need an older VKD3D version, but I couldn't find one that worked in my collection.

Step 1: Download Cyberpunk 2077. I'm using version 2.02. if this guide doesn't work, try downgrading your game version.

Step 2: Download the attached vkd3d-proton and XeSS files.

Step 3: Extract the contents of vkd3d-proton and XeSS into Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64

Step 3.5: Delete or rename the d3d12on7 folder. It shouldn't do anything, but if your game doesn't work, try this.

Step 4: Open Cyberpunk2077.exe with CFF Explorer or a hex editor, the next few steps can be done with either CFF Explorer or a hex editor

For CFF Explorer, go to import directory, libxess.dll, double click xessIsOptimalDriver and replace it with xessGetVersion, and then do the same for xessSetContextParameterF.

For a hex editor, use the replace tool to replace 78 65 73 73 53 65 74 43 6F 6E 74 65 78 74 50 61 72 61 6D 65 74 65 72 46 with 78 65 73 73 47 65 74 56 65 72 73 69 6F 6E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00, and then replace 78 65 73 73 49 73 4F 70 74 69 6D 61 6C 44 72 69 76 65 72 with 78 65 73 73 47 65 74 56 65 72 73 69 6F 6E 00 00 00 00 00

Save, and the game should work now.

I got this working with help from okt04175 aka Alan_A on Patreon. He provided me with the older XeSS files that allow the game to work.
