The browser based on the basilisk browser, which shared mostly same uxp code as palemoon and mypal. It is more like firefox browser.

Centaury has same features as mypal but also webtrc and multiprocess.

Goals to improve wbrtc, multiprocess and other new features.

So a browser with WebRTC is great. Maybe MS Teams will work on XP, that would be really nice.

Did you fix the issue with the menu bar in Australis having that horrendous looking 'highlight' in every OS above XP (and maybe even IN XP)?

I tried that out, sadly it didn´t. At first it just said my browser is incompatible. After changing the useragent to "Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:71.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/71.0 Basilisk/52.9.2021.01.20" it promted me with the message "We´re sorry-We´ve run into an issue."...

Try Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:71.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/71.0

Seems this is an issue still, and maximising the window also nukes the _[]X buttons somewhere into the deep depths of orbit (I don't know what they're called, I ALWAYS called them this). Only for them to return if you enable the title bar, which looks like utter shit when combined with the fact there's some weird ghosting thing going on, that's been an issue ever since Australis existed.

(vista x64)

wtf why is my grammar awful suddenly

It was folded that mypal does not have these, a minimal browser for older pc, can set mypal interface on centaury with a theme.

The webrtc module is quite old so does not works everywhere, i look how to replace it from newer firefox, strait copy did not come out.

Mind if you write a guide on how to do that? I feel like it would be EXTREMELY beneficial for some people here. :)

I'll also help clean up your English if needed. I actually happen to be the same person who reworded the installer 'portable' label text, wonder if you remember me now?

It's not truly Chromium 54, it's really just a modded 48 or 49. I wish someone would take at least the 58 or 60 engine, give it the full 48 UI, and make it work on XP.

Yeah, I also mentioned the following: I wonder why it seems to be so difficult to compile a modern version of Chromium even though they kind of exist, like the 360 Extreme Explorer

Yea thanks, actually guide is not needed, you install the addon named classic theme restorer then restart and look. Get it from the ca-archive.

DirectWrite usage on Chromium 50 and later, TLS support, GPU hardware acceleration support, locale support... etc. - this is made far easier when you realise Opera Software ASA is owned by a Chinese firm backed by Qihoo and Tencent, both of which provide XP-compatible Chromium browsers built from the exact same source tree (which is identical to whatever Maxthon 5 used), so they probably have more 'insider knowledge' of the codebase than a bunch of random people who are toying with it as hobbyists. People who have a life in the real world don't give a shit about us, that's fact, that's why they don't want to support a 20+ years old OS.

Most of the Chinese browsers are using an identical source and recompiling it with their own build instructions that only they seem to have access to (note how many of them have identical UI design, and none of them are compiled with WebRTC support despite it being embedded deeply into Chromium since around version 56?). Also, 360 Extreme Explorer seems to be using its own certificate proxy for TLS connections as of version 13, eliminating issues on XP Pro x64.

I tried the Centaury Browser on Server 2008 R2 Datacenter machine last week. Youtube icon were broken as you see here or it's just my Ublock extension that caused it.

UPDATE: Cant fix the bug, it seems there is some YT's icon incompatibility on the browser itself or it's just corrupt useragent

I benefit the Centaury just fine, but Waterfox Classic i never tested it but i will try on 8.1 Industry Enterprise if it's better because i think it's only Youtube UI bug on Centaury or just my addons.

Yeah the browser really crumbles in the presence of javascript, it hogs the enire thing down. But i bet it's just because of it's early build stage. It has a nice premise though.

Nah, it's the upstream JS engine from Pale Moon being a pile of junk in comparison to even Mozilla's current engine let alone Google's V8 engine used in Chromium.

Unfortunate, hopefully a tick will switch things around.Would be a better world if such things can happen like that.

Centaury

It all depends on upstream. The only way we'll be getting somewhere with a reasonably compatible with the web XP browser that isn't dependent on the Golden Brick (Qihoo and co) Chromium source tree infested with CCP malware is by directly making a completely independent engine written and targeting XP instead of relying entirely on an upstream engine's code, and that is something that will take so long and require an inestimal amount of time and effort that it's just not worth doing.

Wouldn't happen that easily, and it's getting harder to get there by the day. May never see the light but maybe it needs a change in perspectives.

Seems the new Centaury will be based on Waterfox Classic:

just wonder if he can restore XP support on Waterfox Classic.
otherwise people can just using Waterfox Classic directly on their win7+ computer instead.

Seems very difficult. The last version of Firefox supports Windows XP is 52.0. Waterfox Classic itself is Firefox 56.0, isn't it? I think with his knowledge of UXP based browser he should cooperate with dbsoft. His White Star browser now support building on Windows and dbsoft himself wanted to support Windows XP, too.

Maybe, but you gotta get Feodor2 to remember that eclipse.cx exists before talking about this.
