Windows Movie maker 2.6 black screen issue on windows 10

Unread post by ginger334 »

hey, so i like using windows movie maker for old style videos (like from 2000s- early 2010s) but i normally use wmm 6.0 from vista and i would like to use wmm 2.6 (the winxp version) on windows 10 but when i try to add a title it just makes it black with nothing on it! :x , and idk why? i kinda wish that someone could fix this problem as i don't like wmm 6.0 and don't want to use Windows XP VM's just to make old style video.

I have no idea :(
It must be a driver issue or maybe some setting in WMM.

Could be a codec issue, maybe?
I know I have to jump through some hoops to get "old" .wmv and .wma to work in modern players.
Seems that newer codecs disable some of the older codecs that are known to have "security holes".

Yes, that too.
WMV is dead anyway, de facto.
