I225-V Driver Error

Unread post by OCCiera »

Working driver link

Hello,
Trying to get internet access on the Win7 side of my dual boot.

EVGA Dark Z490
11900K
Intel AX201 WWAN WLAN
Intel I219-V WLAN LAN
Intel I225-V WLAN LAN

I could find no W7 drivers for the WWAN WLAN adapter, and drivers for the I219-V install fine. However, to use the 11900K on the EVGA Z490, I have to use a beta bios that has an error causing I219-V to be non-functional. This leaves me with the I225-V. I attempted to use the driver provided on this board, (the link has since stopped working, by the way) and it installs fine. However upon actually connecting the ethernet cable, Windows freezes after a moment. I've searched a bit for other sources, and they either refuse to install entirely or have the same issues. Does anybody have any insight?

I225-V Driver Error

So they never released a proper working BIOS for 11th gen? That is odd. Modern EVGA moment I guess.

AX201 does not work, but you should be able to replace with DW1560 or DW1820A and that works on even XP. Similar or better than 8265 (last working on 7)

For I225-V, I haven't seen that before, nor do I own a 225-V based board. I know some of the earlier chips can be funky with weird issues. Not entirely sure if fixable. Maybe see if SDIO has a better driver? Also I fixed the link.

Probably not the solution you came here for, but I suggest disabling internal Ethernet entirely and just using a Solarflare/Solarstorm SFN 10G Ethernet card.

I'm using a SFN5161T myself. I think the SFN5121T and SFN5161T are mostly the same card. I've tested mine and the card works in even XP too. Although the drivers are a bit rare, going to try to find them again and add to 7 post. The card is 10G, which is an upgrade over 2.5G 225-V, and works fine in a downgraded chipset slot. You can use this in the bottom x16 (electrically x4) and it should just work.

It works! Posting this from the W7 Install! I punched in something similar to "SDIO I225-V" in and found a thread of issues on Windows Server 2019 of all things, but I decided to try it anyway as it couldn't work less than it had. I'll grab the link to the thread/driver when I switch back over to Win10. Thanks!

I hope they recover and maybe push something out down the line, although the chances of the former, let alone both of those things happening I wouldn't bet anything on. As for the WWAN WLAN adapter, do you mean swapping out the hardware? Is it just on a small add in card like those found on lapotops under the I/O cover or something?

I need to correct you on this, WWAN is used to refer to cellular (3G, 4G, 5G) cards. The AX201 is a WLAN card. Also yes, I mean swapping out the hardware, and yes it's a small add in card like those in laptops, or at least should be.

The WLAN card is in the metal box that the antenna connectors come out of. You can see two screws on the bottom of the board where it is. If you take out those screws, and take off the IO shroud, the box should just come out. Inside it is the card. Replace the card with DW1820A and it should just work.

Yeah... It's a bit late, my apologies.

Alright, thank you. Probably not something I'll tackle for a while now that I have ethernet working, but maybe I'll give it a shot when I move this into the Dell, or if I ever take this thing to a LAN party.
