I'm not sure if there will be a r3dfox 134. I wouldn't say r3dfox is dead, just paused for now.
Firefox 134.0.1 is out, so maybe it's time for a R3dfox 134.0.1 ? ;)
Please keep this project alive, in two months Mozilla may stop making v115 ESR versions so Windows 7 and 8.1 users will have no other solution for a modern and up to date browser :(
With R3dfox you have the secret of making DASH and HLS videos working fine on Windows 7 and 8.1, you are our only hope

Hey K4Sum1. I had filed a bug on Github, regarding ESR 128.6 no long allowing white caption text, as was switchable in ESR 128.4. I was just wondering if there may be a fix on this, or if you are no longer working on the project.

Thanks. Have a great week.

Maintaining these things is a full time job, it's not for everyone.
Off Topic
Personally, I have no use for r3dfox. I'd like to be able to have Floorp on my computer as alternative browser. While still too close to Firefox in basic operation for my taste, at least it comes with friendlier (IMHO) interface out-of-box. But it doesn't run on my CPU lacking SSE 4.1 instructions and compiling from source, which could probably allow producing binaries without SSE 4.1 optimizations, is impossible with measly 6 GB of RAM.

But I realize my interests are niche even among outsiders, so I just grudgingly fire-up Firefox when Pale Moon fails. So far, I haven't encountered the need to update it beyond 110.

Next ESR release I'll look into the issue.

it's better to use recent versions since they can run on Windows Vista, 7 and 8 and several security flaws have been fixed.
i just updated from 115 to 128 and it worked just fine

Ok, I've further discussed this in private, and now I'll make a 133.0.3 with some bugfixes and combining some of the commits to make things easier for forward porting.

Good news! Thanks!
Even though I don't quite understand why a 133.0.3 version and not a 135 🤔

133.0.3 is here just to make it more convenient to get it working on 135 next.

Some problems I have with Plasmafox 133.0.4:

1. Missing popups.
When you hover some objects with the mouse a popup containing information should appear. This is working with R3dfox 132 but not with Plasmafox 133.0.4.

Emojis info in the page I'll talk about later:

2. Image context menu.
When I right click on an image with Plasmafox it's either missing an item or showing the "View image" item which is a very old feature from Firefox 68 or even 52 (Waterfox Classic which is based on Firefox 52 is using it). The correct item should be "Open image in new tab" Like in Firefox, LibreWolf and R3dfox 132 and older.

Right click on the image of the header at the top of this forum:

3. System fonts not being used.
Some fonts which are installed system wide are not used by Plasmafox while it's working fine with R3dfox 132, Firefox and LibreWolf.

SOLVED:
That's because of Suspected Fingerprinters in custom Enhanced Tracking Protection, look here:
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=6242#p6242

In this page https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Unicode/Character_reference/1F000-1FFFF many emojis and symbols are missing whith Plasmafox 133.0.4 while R3dfox 132 is showing them. Some whole blocks are missing: Alchemical Symbols, Supplemental Arrows-C, Chess Symbols plus some random parts, mainly Unicode 7 8 and 9, in other blocks.

Interesting. It happens even on 10, so I assume it's some mistake with the native theme code. I've decided to just start working on 134 myself, and I've done the basic compatibility fixes and it works in this version. The old theme code was pretty piecemeal, but the new theme code kinda has to be applied in one batch, so this will be harder to trace.

I also kinda encountered this issue multiple times, but I never thought to look into it. It just never occurred to me that tooltips being broken might be a browser bug and not just web page being shitty.

So I initially applied it to the build to see if I would like it, then I forgot about the change and shipped it. I ended up liking it as I can can easily view an image in the same tab, but if I want to open it in a new tab, I just middle click View Image and it opens in new tab.

So I tried looking at this on various Windows versions and installs, and all of them are missing all of the Chess Symbols like you show. My in progress 134, 133, 132, 131, 128, Librewolf 135, Marble 132 and 133, and various Firefox 132/133 nightly builds.

I have installed this font system wide for those extra characters:
https://arch.alerque.com/x86_64/otf-symbola-14.00-2-any.pkg.tar.zst
in .tar → usr → share → fonts → OTF

It works fine with every Firefox fork I'm using even with Waterfox Classic which is based on FF52 (using legacy extensions).
For what it's worth, I have also enabled gfx.font_rendering.fallback.unassigned_chars in about:config but it doesn't help with Plasmafox 133.0.4.

I tested in a VM, and for me the symbols show in 133.0.4 with the font installed.

I have tested with a new profile and yes, it's working fine :?

SOLVED:
privacy.fingerprintingProtection.overrides
value: -FontVisibilityLangPack

Because Suspected Fingerprinters in Enhanced Tracking Protection are blocking these fonts.
Another workaround is to copy the font file into the Fonts folder of the browser. This can't be done on the fly, you must close the browser, copy the file and then run the browser again.

Tooltips are back with 133.0.4e-1, thanks

Any chance to get the image menu back as well ? Because when you click on View Image it leaves the page you are on.

Yep, but I'm so used to right click on an image then press the I key, it's faster than any move move.
Plus it's not following the current option which is now here for years. And Mozilla has removed this View Image option because it's making you leaving the current page which can be very annoying with some pages with live updating.

Notice that, as I said in my first post about this problem, it's also missing in some cases.

And thanks for R3dfox 134.0.3

These two images led me to a new "need" (mainly because I used to use Proxomitron but have opted to replace with extensions/userscripts/userstyles).

Tooltips are back but they don't respect the dark mode + dark theme style like R3dfox 132 did:

R3dfox 132:

R3dfox 134:

Popup-R3dfox134.png (12.42 KiB) Viewed 18752 times

Also notice the square corners in v134, they are rounded in v132.
