Replace the "watch?v=" bit with "embed/":
https://youtube.com/embed/xxxxxxxxxxx
To each their own, of course.
But speaking solely for myself, "/embed/" links are BLOCKED on my system!
Well, technically not "blocked", they get REDIRECTED back to NORMAL "watch" links.
Again, to each their own.
"/embed/" videos don't have "real" player playback controls, not all extensions deal with an /embed/ and a watch the same way, I fully disable any-and-all auto-play and I actually *want* the YouTube video thumbnails and descriptions for "related" videos *BEFORE* I ever click "play" on the video I'm being suggested to watch. Those thumbnails and descriptions tell me a *thousand times more* info than (no offense intended) people who post embed links.
And YEAH, h#ll yeah, I def watched the Purdue/Rubik's "embed" link further up in this thread.
But again, *more often than not*, I really *must* see the video thumbnails on the *normal* YouTube page before I decide for myself if I click "play".
Too many forums over the years would post pics of CAR CRASHES and FATALITIES and I have ZERO interest in watching them!
YouTube's *real* page's thumbnails on the side are basically "regulated" (for lack of a better word).
You don't see the ***STUPID*** sh#t until you watch the whole thing.
The THUMBNAIL won't be "blood and guts" and the THUMBNAIL will tell people like me "YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS VIDEO, MOVE ON"...
Or the THUMBNAIL will tell people like me "THIS ONE WON'T TRIGGER A 'WTF, WHY WOULD ANYBODY WATCH THIS SH#T', YOU ARE SAFE TO CLICK PLAY"...
