Multicore-Support

Unread post by Taiclaw »

In the past there existed a project in FF for Multicore-Support - because of the fanatic security madness the project was cut out of FF!

Multicore-Support would be cool! :geek:

:? Strange, but it would be better, if it would be a deactivable option under Browser Privacy!!! :ugeek:

K4sum1 wrote: 09 Nov 2025, 02:45 I just realize the mistake, in (r3dfox dir)\config.cfg, the entry for browser.contentblocking.category uses pref instead of defaultPref.
For now just remove the line and it will stick with custom
Yes, that fixed it

K4sum1 wrote: 09 Nov 2025, 02:45 So I took a look at that, and it appears to use WebAudio to fingerprint you, the user. If WebAudio is disabled, this fails, and it just decides fuck you and infinitely loads. If you really want to use the website, setting dom.webaudio.enabled to true fixes it.
That fixed it too :D
FYI to prevent fingerprinting I'm using CanvasBlocker extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/canvasblocker/

Tip: to allow smilies to work on this forum with CanvasBlocker add eclipse.cx to the Window API list by clicking on "+" and then remove its checkmark.
It should be the same with any other phpBB forum.

It's asking you to create this key because no key containing "multicore" exists at all.
With the default about:config of R3dfox, which looks and acts like the "old" one, you need to right click on the board and then select New like this:
R3dfox-OldConfigNew.png
R3dfox-OldConfigNew.png (4.03 KiB) Viewed 875 times

Or as a workaround: use about:confignew instead. ;)

BTW I've checked several Firefox versions and also LibreWolf and Tor Browser and none of them has a key containing "multicore".

For real Multicore-Support there is a little much more work and you need to go in to the deep of FF!!!  :ugeek: :ugeek:

:wtf: :-o What all have you deactivated? :?: :eh:

:ugeek: :ugeek: :!: :!: :!: Give the user the choice to deactivate Options (include Autoplay) and at remaining Permissions and AI the choice to activate - then all are happy   8-)

Only a idea : AI under Permissions :ugeek:

:ugeek:   :ugeek: I think it would be the best to take the Base from r3dfox-143 and make the changes in a better way!!! :ugeek:   :ugeek:

This Widevine tweak doesn't work anymore :( :
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=6462#p6462
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=6470#p6470
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=6475#p6475

Now with R3dfox 144 the config keys and the content of the gmp-widevinecdm folder are always deleted on launch.
I understand that you don't want to enable it by default but I think this is quite lame to force us not to use Widevine with tweaks
So we have to use another browser for DRM content

BTW, I wonder if removing some media features could be linked to the playback problem some people are experiencing:

DRM is evil anyway. One is better off owning those contents physically.

Yes, but if you want to stream a television news channel for example (like CP24 in Toronto), you need access to the technology. After awhile, I sometimes find ideologies can get in the way of doing everyday, practical work.

I don't choose Firefox for the privacy/anit-corp stuff; I use it because I can still customize the interface. I could never live with Pale Moon or New Moon stuff anymore. One needs to be able to browse the modern web, watch YouTube, and use online banking.

AGREED!

I only upgraded from XP (modified/tweaked over the years!) to 10 (heavily-tweaked) within the past ONE year.
So I skipped right over everything in the title of this thread (ie, Vista, 7, and 8).

I totally "get" the delicate balance between a "modern browsing experience" and running an OS that adheres to "ideologies".
(do not let MSFN know, but I am "NotHereToPlayGames", ie tweaker of 360Chrome from my XP Days)

Ideologies OFTEN get in the way and "hold us back".
I also had to just recently (as in mere days ago!) finally ditch (forever?) Serpent52 as a secondary browser.
My 360Chrome v13.0 still gets some use here and there as a secondary.

I like finding secondaries. Speaking for me, that is why I "follow" r3dfox, IceCat, Supermium, etc.

What do you mean ?
Version 144 rolled back to allow the custom settings of Enhanced Tracking Protection.

Taiclaw wrote: 13 Nov 2025, 10:58 And now new ESRs and no non-ESR?
There have been ESR builds for a long time. Some people like to use them.
For the regular version please be patient. K4sum1 is doing all this work almost alone for all of us and he's doing it for free. We must all thank him.
