TWICE as fast as 360Chrome/Mypal68/Mypal74 (and also higher RAM), but still slower than modern versions of Chrome.

I guess I do miss my old friends from MSFN and I'm currently locked out of that forum ... but I understand people change and need to move forward in their own lives seeing they are very young with their whole lives ahead of them and I'm too old. I feel abandoned though still I feel like I did something wrong to chase them away. I have 1 online friend I chat with most every day and without him I'd be very lonely. I know this is a busy time of year for some folks that need to buy gifts ... so glad I don't have to do that.

Ok, its about 8:10PM and I plan to watch TV and maybe play some games on the computers. This computer is on its last legs and its 'any day' for it. You've been saying your computer is on its last legs for a while now. I noticed in recent times with the laptop, when you turn it on, some white horizontal line appears briefly on the screen. Sometimes it happens when moving the screen / lid.

I'm shocked it is still working at all. I have numerous bad sectors and I frequently get memory errors (3GB) and I have to shut down the program I was using to start all over again. The power supply gets so hot you can fry an egg on it lol. Its very old and its been though hell actually and many many brownouts. Sometimes I have to restart the computer after it crashes to the desktop after playing any heavy game. I can't complain as I didn't pay for it, it was gift from my brother and for that reason I keep it going with corrupt system files and I don't have the energy to rebuild XP and I tried Vista and it won't support it. I can go online and print but that is about it most days.

I know.

I can't complain when it comes to computers.
I've been using them for close to FORTY YEARS but throughout that ENTIRE time span, I've only BOUGHT *three*.
And one of those three was a laptop from a PAWN SHOP not even a year ago (ie, some rich kid pawned it, I landed it for HALF its new-price).
And I currently have SEVEN. More FREEBIES over the years than I've ever bought.
Then there are the FREEBIES that weren't even worth putting to use or only lasted me a year or so because they were "free for a reason".

I'm one of those guys that believes in PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY.
And extends that to *ALL* of us, no matter our 'poverty level' or "fortune", **CAN** "afford" a computer -- ALL OF US !!!
But it will be different for all of us.
Some of us can smoke half what we smoke and use the savings to fund that computer in a few months (I didn't say days).
Some of us can put down the "bottle" and use the savings in a few months.
Some of us can cut down on fast food and restaurants.
There is ALWAYS something.

The *only* "affordability crisis" that I see is the "have not's" thinking they should be living like kings and queens!
No! Learn to live within your means and learn to be happy with that!
I'm a "have not". But I am a HAPPY "have not" that REFUSES to "point blame" at ANYONE "richer than me".
But sure, yeah, you don't make life any "better" by "kicking those already down" either.

Be happy WHERE YOU ARE AT. Take OWNERSHIP of WHERE YOU ARE AT.
STOP comparing yourself to those "above you".
STOP comparing yourself to those "beneath you".

One thing I do know, is, never ever act on impulse and this too shall pass. Just wondering, is something really eating you up? Is this dreaded holiday season getting the best of you? I know its forced for me. No tree this year as nobody is in the spirit either. I hope to sleep through it if possible. I do appreciate my own company and being around a bunch of people won't help me any and I need to focus on self and stay in lonerville. You could try meditation to get you through the rough times, UCyborg ... just a suggestion of course. I know you've been down for a long while. I don't know how to help you I'm afraid. I don't like to fail people I care about.

I do have suicidal thoughts too but I try to avoid ruminating about them. They do pass. I'm glad you haven't thought deeply about it. We are not the only ones but its ok when its just a fleeting thought.

Understandable, but i suggest you update Mypal to version 74.1.3 (v74.1.4 having issues loading videos in private mode). I noticed atleast 10% to 20% improvement in performance, pages load faster and more responsive than v68.14.x

Well I got 74.1.2 working very well now accept there are these annoying white lines in the address bar but I"ll overlook it for now. Same issue with 74.1.4 but that version closes as soon as I start typing in the address bar.

Here is what I get pitting Mypal 68.14.7 directly with 74.1.3.
As far as CPU and RAM goes, the two are IDENTICAL, no significant difference.

Speedometer 2.1 goes from 32.4 to 33.6 on my 18yr old Q6700.
No real performance gain, in my opinion.
BUT... YES, 74.1.3 does score EVER SO SLIGHTLY higher than both Mypal 68.14.7 *and* 360Chrome v13.5.

However, in my view, the difference in performance is so SLIGHT that *personal preference* between all three should be the deciding factor.
Which GUI do you like best? Which feel more "ergonomic" to your usage? et cetera...

Thank you for the assessment and I did get 74.1.2 working and I notice an improvement over 68.14.7 but 74.1.2 seems like this is versionless for some reason but I got ublock working with help form Duke so I can't be too picky
