Eclipse Community

Due to server slowness, downtime, and other issues, guests can no longer search the forum or view user accounts. At some point in the future Eclipse will be moving to a more stable and efficient platform that should result in much better stability and the lifting of these restrictions. There is no timeline for this yet, just want you to know what's happening with all the downtime and I have a plan to fix it.

I want to have r3dfox save pdf files rather than open them up in my reader however it keeps reverting from save as to open up in the reader. When that happens it's saved automatically to the temp folder and I have to go get it. Does anyone know why that's happening? I know at least one other person had that issue.

I think this might be related to browser.download.open_pdf_attachments_inline

Go to about:config and set it to false and see if it works how you expect it to after.

I changed it to false but it still reverts to opening up in my reader.

I can't reproduce and I have browser.download.open_pdf_attachments_inline set to true.

Check Settings → General → Applications and set Always Ask or Save File for PDFs:

It says always ask when I open it but if I click on the drop down it changes to open in the default application and automatically opens it. If I change it to save it reverts when I open it again. The always ask shows the application icon.

Well, I'm not using Foxit but another program as the default for PDFs and I don't have this issue. :|
Can you try with a new profile ?

I've just tried R3dfox v140.11 ESR with a new profile and it's working fine for me.
I have the option Always ask you where to save files ticked.

I don't see what else would matter.
Give me a link to a PDF file that exposes the problem so I can try it.
