Due to server slowness, downtime, and other issues, guests can no longer search the forum or view user accounts. At some point in the future Eclipse will be moving to a more stable and efficient platform that should result in much better stability and the lifting of these restrictions. There is no timeline for this yet, just want you to know what's happening with all the downtime and I have a plan to fix it.

My scrolling window capture narrows the page and truncates the right and left and only caps a narrow band down the center.
Time to update my third-party tool? Possible.
Yes, it looks like the emoji-test page from my first link is a nightmare to capture as an image. The built-in tool of Firefox truncates a large part of the bottom and the other tools I've suggested also failed to capture the whole page.

so I go the .pdf route today.
24.9 MB (25,563 KB) file size to capture those d@mn ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY PAGES.
Compress it to a .7z and it's only 7.03 MB (7,206 KB) but I ran into a brick F'in wall the last time I tried to attach a .7z
So did I, and it worked.
Mine is 15 970 KB, 8 328 KB once compressed to 7z and yes, I also got the HTTP Error as soon as I try to attach it.
Even a 1.4 MB file failed to upload but a 932 KB file passed through. So it looks like the limit is set at about 1 MB but that's not your problem, I'm saying it for the forum admin(s).

In case you missed it (because I "talk a lot", lol), MV3 is *one of the reasons* that I *hate* uBO force-included in recent 'fox forks.
Although, yeah, I probably (probably) shouldn't complain about that UNTIL (it will happen eventually, IMO) Firefox/Forks no longer support MV2.
The version included in r3dfox and in the Firefox addon store is MV2 though. There is a uBO Lite that is MV3, and from what I've heard it works pretty well and can even be better than MV2 uBO, but I haven't tried it.
The only conclusion I can draw from my recent testing is that both Chromium and Firefox are even more useless than the last time I tried them. Like sitting in a car you hate.
Chromium is borderline pathetic, zero usability features, doesn't even have native tab load on demand. Can't have simple "unload tab" command on the tab context menu. It deliberately ignores directive in proxy.pac that says connect to localhost through proxy. And still, all extensions button crammed into one corner.
And Firefox, useless Chrome wannabe with even higher RAM wastage. CustomCSSforFx...dead, most of the remaining extensions like DownThemAll!, Norwell History...dead.

Does disabling smooth scrolling work on Firefox 148? I'm trying out FireDragon 12.9.1 (based on Fx 148), doesn't work there.
Commented out bunch of things in firedragon.cfg in install dir and smooth scrolling can be normally disabled now. I suspect Smooth Fox section was responsible.
Welp, the grass isn't greener on the other side. After some experimenting, mostly back on Pale Moon, with maybe slightly more (Th)Chromium at work due to crap like Teams. Using two browsers is a bit challenging with limited RAM, so at times, I have to suck it up and exit Pale Moon.
Firefox-based browsers just seem to have other bugs. Huge RAM waster with slightly more tabs, makes page file explode and then takes a good while before all that process spam manages to exit, video playback sometimes just craps out...heck, on another family's member laptop with some Intel Celeron, Firefox still struggles with videos immensely. I finally taught the owner to use Pale Moon for those sites.
And the font rendering, it's just awful, I need proper tuned ClearType rendered fonts that current Windows versions can provide, none of that crappy Skia that is being forced down everyone's throat. No amount of CSS hacking gets it right with Skia, I feel like the hole is being drilled into my brain.
Currently trying to trace and solve issue where Cairo results in tab text shifting between proper and blurry in the post-Quantum releases.
Also the rendering mode messes with the text rendering too. D3D11 messes with it somehow and makes it look kinda bad. Compare PM with D3D11 accel to basic accel on https://eclipse.cx, and https://fontgammatest.replit.app/
Saving grace though is that Lun3r/NM with D3D9 has no such font issues, and looks just as good as basic.
k4sum1 who?
I might know what I'm doing not the hit album by brad sucks
Cairo lacks the touch I get with ClearType tuner, the fonts are again thinner. And yeah, I notice the effect on menu bar fonts with with D3D11 + Cairo, it reminds me of the problem in some games that alternate pixel center setting in ATI drivers was solving.
Years ago, I did something similar with Drakan, added an option to alter its pixel shifting logic so fonts wouldn't get messed up with forced MSAA. The original code must have been solving similar problem with fonts on Voodoo 3D accelerator cards, at least judging by results in an emulator.
Either way, with UXP browsers, D3D11 + D2D (defaults) is the only combination that does it the way I/my eyes like it.
But, Pale Moon project itself is underfunded and lacks manpower to keep up with demands modern web, the stability took a noticeable nosedive in recent months.
Has anyone noticed this supposed 10 times improvement on YouTube which latest version advertised? For me it feels more like 10 times downgrade. In fact the whole Firefox feels like it's been getting slower since version 149. I haven't been this dissatisfied with Firefox speed in years, I'm not sure how many exactly, but I would say probably close to 5 years.
I believe it's a cat and mouse game between Youtube and the adblockers, especially uBlock Origin, to force us to view ads.
And I've also read, but I have no evidence, that Youtube has a 'preference' for Chromium based browsers. Maybe because of Manifest V3 which can block less things than Manifest V2 that Firefox and uBlock are still using.
My YouTube remains 100% ad-free!
I use Official Chrome v144 and Ungoogled Chromium v144.
My uBO is MV2 because I intentionally use an older version of uBO (v 1.52.2).
v 1.54 is when the "differential updates" were implemented and I *do not like* that update approach.
I've never had any issues with using an "old" version.
I don't really remember why I "skipped" v 1.53 and *INTENTIONALLY* remain on 1.52.2.
I'm sure I had a reason at the time, I just can't think of it offhand.
I use several userscripts to improve my YouTube experience (things like axing the RETARDED "chat" infinte scroll sh#t (I assume it still exists, lol).
I kind of no longer really even know what "default" YouTube looks like, I've axed out the crap for so long.
I don't get "suggestions", I block all "shorts", etc.

Yes, because they totally removed MV2 since Chrome/Chromium v145. So you can't update if you want to keep MV2.
My Youtube is also ads free but with Firefox, R3dfox, etc and uBlock Origin you don't see the ads but you have to wait for the time they are supposed to be shown. So I guess that's why people think Firefox is slow on Youtube.
Portion of your statement is not true.
I still use MV2 extensions in Edge based on Chrome v151.
It's on a computer I don't have access to until tomorrow.
Generally speaking, you can ALWAYS *manually* install MV2 extensions and there are flags/startup switches that prevent even v151 from preventing or disabling those MV2's (similar to how Firefox can allow unsigned xpi's, you only have to know the config setting, where it is, and how to set it).
That Edge is due to become v152 shortly (I only check updates on Sundays, so I can report back on Sunday).
My Edge is fully "portable" (my OS has ZERO "default" and ZERO "embedded" into the OS, I'm very much "anti-default browser" shenanigans).
ps, for the record, I use v144 because it TOTALLY LACKS all of the A.I. *sh#t" in newer versions.
I can easily *disable* that A.I. crap in newer versions (ie, flags and startup switches), but I don't even want that d@mn "tab" in the GUI, so I'm sticking with v144 for as long as I can.
I can use newer, and know how to disable in newer, but I'll stick to an OS and a browser with ZERO embedded A.I. sh#t for as long as I can. I already know how to remove it from Win11, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to run 11 yet. Same goes for my browser, I know how to disable in newer browsers, but I'll stick with the "without" for now.
