I've been a forum owner/admin in the past.
There are fine lines being crossed and certain members would have been banned if this type of "stirring the pot" occurred.
My moderators would place "silent votes" when shenanigans like this unfolded.
The forum owner has spoken, and the "kid" continues to provoke and poke ribs.
His most recent "table" is also clearly BIASED (h#ll, a VERY large percentage of those "XP Posts" are directly tied to 360Chrome threads).

Though yeah, a smaller percentage than I would have *guessed*.
Roughly 8,600 of the 211,200 "XP Posts" are all 360Chrome posts. That's good for 4.1%

Roughly 15,000 of the 211,200 "XP Posts" are roytam's threads. That's good for 7.1%

Great analysis and breakdown. I guess I'm just not that invested in strengthening the longevity of XP and Vista use in 2026. It's "time to die" for those systems as far as I'm concerned. I know Windows 8 is aging too, but it has more modern underpinnings than does XP or Vista. So worrying about New Moon or Pale Moon is simply not a priority for me.

It's the same with the recent steps e3k-blah took in reworking Firefox For Windows 7. He went and catered to the "XP should live forever crowd", when we had a perfectly working browser for Windows 7 or 8 already. Everyone says, "Oh Jody! Be patient because e3k-blah is reworking it so it can work with XP too", and I'm like, "hmmmm - I could care less about XP".

So I went back to ESR 115 and didn't look back. Now I can just sit back, grab some popcorn and watch the XP crowd lose their marbles as they lose their "retro computing" home. I'm going to enjoy the fireworks!

It really is time (past time!) for the XP Crowd to fade off into the sunset.

His server was all but "57005" (Hex = DEAD) and his "reputation" was falling into the toilet FAST.
Several members have requested their discussions to be taken to other forums due to nature of MSFN's "connectivity".

It's a BUSINESS DECISION.
And @xper DID THE RIGHT THING !!!

To the point where I have never "contributed" money to a forum owner ever in my lifetime (I want PUBLIC records of where the money goes!) but I just might now that @xper made the right move FOR THE FUTURE of MSFN.

Because of some of the "rep farming" going on over at MSFN (look at THREE of the top members by "rep points").
These are "faked" and all but a *GAME* by TWO members that log in daily to post FAKE "LIKES".
That type of sh#t gets under my skin. It shouldn't, but it does, lol.
So in that sense, I'm all for grabbing that bag of popcorn, sitting back and watching, and seeing if the "kid" gets himself BANNED.

More enshittification...it doesn't even render on my smartphone properly, bunch of [X] instead of icons. A lot of wasted space. Switching thread pages now reloads entire page...so they removed one thing that made their software distinct.

Only incompetent morons with shit for brains can make a claim that developing in a way to be compatible with Pale Moon makes impossible development conflict, LMAO.

There are still thriving forums out there not imposing Cloudflare / Anubis BS on their users, eg. VOGONS and Ross-Tech.

Well I will say that MSFN seems to be in a really messy state with all of the outages, and even since the upgrades.

However, if this is what ends up killing the vintage XP/Pale Moon tide of popularity, then ... meh, I don't care. I remember getting it up the ass by folks on MSFN because in 2014, when I ditched XP x64 for Vista, and they used to say I was spreading FUD (you don't really hear that one anymore, so it shows even the vintage crowd follows trends).

Now those same folks love Vista just as much. Plus the ACTUAL Pale Moon group don't look fondly on XP either. Besides, the Pale Moon folks don't seem to look fondly on modern web standards either.

To me, Windows 8 is about as old as I go. With Classic Shell, it's a flat, fast OS that can still run productively modern software, that's gets work done in the modern era. XP looks fine with six feet of dirt on top of it, and out of date browsers like New Moon and Pale Moon can be buried in the plot beside it.

I saw Astroskipper fighting back on Xper by saying, "New Moon is not old software". Well actually, it IS vintage software, but just with modern updates.

Well, in my opinion, New Moon is NEVER going to be truly "modern".
It will ALWAYS be at least TWO YEARS behind Chrome. IF NOT THREE YEARS !!!
In a day and age where two MONTHS is considered a very long time.
New Moon is **DEAD**. Give up on that trash.
Just my opinion, of course.

That aside, MSFN has been **TERRIBLE**.
I'm thankful that they are ***FINALLY*** !!! spending their donations on actual fixes rather than on *BEER* and backyard BBQs.

But holy hell... After all of the FAKE ACCOUNTS that I warned them about TWO YEARS AGO, they just won't listen.

MSFN owner seems to be hinting at being at his wit's end and just shutting MSFN down.
In some ways, I guess I kind of hope that he does. I probably shouldn't say that out loud, but there it is, lol.
If I were him, that's exactly what I would do, SHUT IT DOWN. But I'd start a new forum under new software with all new members.
AND KEEP IT UP TO DATE THIS TIME. These problems all started because he "took in donations" but clearly did not spend them on the server!

Well I find Xper rather lax on his forum. Many times in the past when it shut down for a few days, he was NOWHERE to be heard from. We would come to Eclipse, Ryan's VM Net and Tripadaces' site to post status updates for MSFN. But NEVER EVER a peep out of Xper. I don't know what to make of Dave-H. He seems to like laying down the law, but in the end really does F-all.

I think you'll find that with all of this MSFN downtime, folks will just gradually scurry away from the site.

About MSFN, I'm surprised xper didn't shut down the forum before, considering certain individuals over there. And not being into daily driving particularly old hardware/software. Hobby's one thing, but MSFN crowd seems rather peculiar in insisting on Windows XP as a daily driver for the rest of eternity. Plus considering the nature of world of computers where change has been a constant phenomenon.

Nothing against him regarding the direction of Invision Community. Modern web is objectively atrocious - Almost nobody pays attention to web standards anymore - Screen readers suffer as nearly 90% of top websites tested contain HTML spec violations.

NOT complying to HTML specs is nothing new.

Over a decade ago, our manufacturing equipment was "mandated" to use FIREFOX ONLY for the manufacturing screens that tell the line workers where to shift their focus.

Because at the time, FIREFOX did *NOT* comply to standards and our engineering USED THAT and difficult tables and live-feed data streams would only show that table as a "square" when and ONLY WHEN "standards" were *NOT* adhered to.
