I made an issue on the Bugzilla issue tracker, and they have it listed as a known issue. Rather than fix it on my repo and have them fix it later causing a conflict, I figure I will just leave it until they fix it. Unless they just never fix it, in that case then I'll fix it myself.

I can't find the issue on Bugzilla. What is its ID number ?
EDIT: found it:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1910312
But I have the feeling it will take a loooooong time before it will be fixed.

Looks like they are not going to fix it any time soon, at least not before Firefox 131, at best.
Please just do it. It's still not working in version 129.0-2.

Yes, but that doesn't explain why some options are missing in R3dfox preferences. Like the useful "Prompt to translate pages" option:
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=4928#p4928
New users of R3dfox have to search for a workaround while a simple click on the option would be enough

I don't know why this happens, and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Is
https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox/tree/esr128 it up to date and sable and building right now would yield me ESR 128.1 version?

Only issues would be that it's not as up to date as 129 with r3dfox features and
https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox/issues/144
I'll get these both fixed today

I'm using R3dfox with permanent private browsing mode and it looks like some sites are now automatically using the data storage which should not happen in private mode, especially when the browser is set to always ask:
I'm not asked and the data storage is used.
This didn't occur in previous versions < 130.

Are you sure this is not temporary storage until the browser restarts? They might just allow it since I assume it would be cleared on a restart.

Well, as I said it didn't occur with versions < 130 so I wonder what is going on.
And that should not happen at all in private mode.

After some testing it looks like it might be linked to cookies settings. If I block all cookies then there is no storage. If I use Cookies from unvisited websites, my usual setting, then the data storage is done.
I've just tried with R3dfox 122, which is still installed on the same machine, and there is no storage whatever the cookies setting is.
I have some full backups of some older versions of R3dfox I'll try that later.
IIRC I've seen on Github some people reporting issues with cookies going through as well.

So I've tried with a full backup of R3dfox v128 and I didn't get this behavior. After more investigations I think it's related in some way to the new Cookie Banner Blocker settings.
If this option is enabled from the private browsing mode then you may have a difference between its values in the preferences:
cookiebanners.service.mode = 0
cookiebanners.service.mode.privateBrowsing = 1
In this case the storage is not done in private hence it may not be automatically deleted when closing the browser.
So make sure both keys have the same values:
Automatically refuse cookie banners disabled:
cookiebanners.service.mode = 0
cookiebanners.service.mode.privateBrowsing = 0
Automatically refuse cookie banners set to reject all:
cookiebanners.service.mode = 1
cookiebanners.service.mode.privateBrowsing = 1
A value of 2 means reject all or fallback to accept all. This is stupid, don't use 2.

Maybe. The idea is to make it so the user does not have to deal with any popups. All other forks seem to default to 2. If you really think I should change it to 1, I'll do it.
I can also make it a GUI option, but I would want to combine both service modes into one thing and idk how to do that.

The information about values comes from this page:
https://github.com/mozilla/cookie-banner-rules-list
I don't know why both settings of normal and private modes are not in sync. Is it a bug or is it done on purpose ?
I can't find any valuable information about that for now.

I appear to have already set it to 1 at some point? Pretty sure I had set it to 2, but I guess not.

Just a curiosity. Has ESR 128 been ported (like you had with ESR 115)?
I hope you're well.
