I use Office 2019 on Win7 and 8.1 since when i previously used older Office like 2010/2013, it clogged Windows Updates on 7 and 8.1 with random Office updates
I guess your too lazy to select them or not :p

2010. No Microsoft Account bullshit in it, and the UI doesn't want to make me gouge my eyes out. Anything 95-2007 is also pretty good.

Now that proves that 2010 is the better of the Offices for me.
Something felt off with 2007 imo

Can anyone tell me how to download Office 2010 build 4006? Downloading from this link (
https://archive.org/download/com.microsoft.office.14.0.4006.1000/Office%2014.0.4006.1000%20TP.iso)
gave me a dead ISO with a non-working setup.exe that says that "This program is not compatible with x86(32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) Windows."

Nah, the design in general. The diff between 2003 and 2007 was a bit un-needed. I felt like there was no budget for design

Office 2000 in my Opinion. It's just so Awesome for all stuffs (Fun fact: with that Converter Addon, it can even read Unencrypted Docx from office Trash 365). But for Modern stuff, I prefer Office 2007 or Office 2010.

For me personally, I used 2010 since I first had a Windows, and its honestly so good. The UI is both simple and efficient while looking nice, AND its skeuomorphism which I really like. They also have some pretty banger templates, especially Publisher. BTW I always think of this from time to time, but where did the online templates you could access from these went? are they archived anywhere? Just wondering...

Ngl I really love Office 97 for doing simple word processing stuff but for anything modern or school related I just love Office 2007. At school we exclusively use Office 2010 and it's also great. IMO everything after office 2013 is just bloated garbage. But yeah office 2007 would be my favourite since it's the fastest most stable and reliable version in my experience.

No wonder tbh Office 2010 actually is amazing and the best version of a full fledge office suit. It is not too great on Windows 10/11 from my experience but it's still fully usable. I use it almost daily at school and I can't really imagine using the free alternatives like Libreoffice or Onlyoffice.

Business partner at work contacted us in recent times with the trouble he had with Excel spreadsheet he got from us for specific number conversions, said they don't work. He said he has Office 2007. The spreadsheet uses bit manipulation functions unknown to Excel 2007. Like, bruh, it's 2025, upgrade that old shit. Things like that are just waste of everyone's time.

This means that the docx file created by a newer Office version was
not compatible with the docx standard which was defined with 2007.
If Microsoft wants to make a new standard they by definition should create a new one like doc
y, this however is probably unnecessary as it hasn't changed so much since
So an ideal solution would be to include something like a
polyfill in the new format file to allow it to run under Office 2007 or at the very least provide a warning to the user that this particular feature in not supported on this version of Office and may not work correctly.
You can't expect casual people to differentiate one docx file from another (often they don't even know which version of Office hey have). Microsoft has traditionally been very good about backwards compatibility and introducing incompatibilities like this one will likely put them (or your team in this case

in a bad light)
Backwards compatibility has been one of the key advantages and one of the main success reasons of Windows vs Linux, cause only tech-savvy people can keep up with which new version they should be running to stay compatible with some docx.
And there are even some who deliberately don't

Who knows, XLSX by itself strikes me as just the way data is stored, functions Excel supports may be another matter. This guy isn't exactly clueless. And finally, in this case, it's rather hypocritical. Because the guy is at the company that in the end of the day sells software product and upgrades to the product, so pushing new versions as well (at least if customer wants something that didn't exist at the time it was bought).
That file was actually produced in LibreOffice Calc, just saved as Excel spreadsheet. LibreOffice is available for download at no cost. For some reason, everyone having MS Office at the company was not the norm.
And the development department currently uses free Visual Studio 2022 Community! Yes, a company that sells software eligible for updates for limited time (then you have to pay) uses free development tools primarily aimed at individuals, learning in classrooms, academic research or contributing to open source projects. Maybe it's still in the clear for being a smaller company, but who knows...the point is...hypocrites who deserve no mercy IMO!

I think Office 07 is the best version of MS Office. It can run on pretty much anything made in the past 15 years or so, it doesn't have any of the modern M$ nonsense that the modern versions of Office have, it's still fully usable to this day and it's also the prettiest looking version. I know many people are not fans of the light blue accent, but I think it's pleasing to the eye. It's certainly better than a bland white background. :p

Only Outlook could be so dumb to not update PUBLISHed (calendar) event and make a duplicate instead.
RFC 5546 wrote:
The "PUBLISH" method in a "VEVENT" calendar component is an unsolicited posting of an iCalendar object. Any CU may add published components to their calendar. The "Organizer" MUST be present in a published iCalendar component. "Attendees" MUST NOT be present. Its expected usage is for encapsulating an arbitrary event as an iCalendar object. The "Organizer" may subsequently update (with another "PUBLISH" method), add instances to (with an "ADD" method), or cancel (with a "CANCEL" method) a previously published "VEVENT" calendar component.
This doesn't work in Outlook, despite using UID referring to the previously published event and incremented SEQUENCE. Unless you use method REQUEST, which is not suitable unless actually dealing with invitations requiring response from participants.
Though Android version seems to work correctly in that regard. But that variant seems like a separate product from the Office suite.

Old thread, new member.
Up until about a year ago, I was on XP x64 and Office 2003.
Now that I'm on Win10 2016 LTSB, I run Office 2007.
I had to ditch Office 2007.
I'm now on an Intel Core Ultra 7 265 computer running Win10 Enterprise 21H2.
We all run Office 365 on Win11 at work (I can technically install on home computer [work provides 5 licenses], but I only install on home VM).
Shh! Don't tell the boss, but I have some Excel spreadsheet "time-filler-games".
For some reason, my macro .xlsm Sudoku spreadsheet keeps crashing Office/Excel 2007 on the new computer.
The same spreadsheet worked fine on Office/Excel 2007 running Win10 LTSB 2016.
Excel 2003 would run the spreadsheet just fine but the File Format Compatibility Pack only allows READ and no SAVE.
Excel 2010's title bar "cloud fade" BS [no clue what its real name is] has got to be the UGLIEST title bar I've ever seen !!!
So didn't even try any of my spreadsheets in it.
I've ran 2010 in XP before and I don't remember there being this UGLY title bar.
So unsure if just something newer versions of Windows "magnify" into outright UGLY.
I'm currently running a trial license (I think Microsoft calls it a "grace period") of Office 2013 that the office lab had in a "junk drawer".
Not really a fan of the gigantic "toolbar" but Office 2007 and Office 2010 were gigantic as well compared to Office 2003.
It's too bad that Office 2003 can't run .xlsm and still be able to SAVE.
Though as I write this, it didn't dawn on me to save the .xlsm as a 2003-version .xls.
If memory serves, macro or non-macro 2003-version is both same .xls extension.

Tried it. Didn't work.
Bumped into the same issue when I tried to run the .xlsm in LibreOffice.
LibreOffice has improved support for VBA macros but is still VERY FAR behind "real" versions of Office.
It's one of those "you get what you paid for" paradigms.
LibreOffice is great for VERY SIMPLE spreadsheets, but just falls flat on its face for anything "complex" in nature.
I don't really consider "conditional formatting" as complex, per se, but it seems to be the culprit in the sudoku .xlsm failing.
For both LibreOffice and Office/Excel 2003.
