To get started, download VMware Workstation 16.2.4 from https://mega.nz/folder/5LoC1ToZ#n7PLcTJAxsMX4cOpZYanww
To activate, use any regular 16.x key
(Some people reported errors, in this case install 15.5.7, activate it then upgrade to 16.2.4)
After the install, copy the files from the 7z to the x64 folder in the VMware Workstation folder
To get 3D acceleration working, add the following lines to C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation\settings.ini
mks.requireISBRenderer = "FALSE"
mks.enableISBRenderer = "FALSE"

I've found you always need to install 15.5.7.

I should figure out what registry changes it does, what 16 fails to do, and make a reg file to fix it.

I believe it's stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\Dormant

For DX11 in Vista, use the VMware Tools 7z file in the folder.
