What Windows 8 should have been
Does anyone remember the Consumer Preview of Windows 8?
I found out what it looked like and it looks very nice and elegant unlike the actual release.- K4sum1

I wish the taskbar was frosted glass like the window borders, but nobody seems to have made a theme like that.

I've actually never seen Windows 8's consumer preview... but wow, I really wish they'd kept that design. That start icon's a little bit jarring though, not gonna lie.

I like the Win8 Consumer Preview look better than the original Win7 look, with a little Open Shell tweaking.ChansLeChan wrote: ↑26 Jan 2021, 16:19 Does anyone remember the Consumer Preview of Windows 8?

So, I tweaked my Win8 build 9200 install to look like this. Now, it looks good and is super responsive!!
Huge fan of Windows Vista, 7, 8.x, XP, 2K, ME and Linux, especially Zorin Linux, Ubuntu, elementaryOS and Mint.
I hate Windows 10. I am the last person one could ever convince to downgrade to Windows 10.

You should probably post a guide in the OS customisation forum. I'm pretty intrigued now, given Windows 8.0 is actually an OS I've wanted to try out given it's meant to be the lightest of the NT 6 series (unless Vista SP2 is even faster) but... yeah

Good idea, but I don't have enough time on hand now (I'll be busy until the 31st of Jan). After 1 Feb I will compile a transformation pack and upload it on Yandex Disk or Box (is it fine if I use Box since I know you go against the use of Mega.NZ?).

Box is like Mega but worse.

This should be it, the 8250 is the one you are probably looking for: https://archive.org/details/os-microsoft-windows-8

That start menu button looks horrifically out of place. Looks as though they were still going for the revamp design either way seen in the RTM.

You mean that flat windows 7 icon? yeah it's horrid, so it's definitely a placeholder.
