Due to server slowness, downtime, and other issues, Eclipse will be moving to a more stable and efficient platform that should result in much better stability. There is no timeline for this yet, just want you to know what's happening with all the downtime and I have a plan to fix it.

Using newer versions of Audacity on XP/2003

Unread post by the_r3dacted »

This is something I was researching, I couldn't find much about it, until I found this. Audacity versions up to 3.0.2 work on XP if you use PEHDR-Lite. However, there's no link to the program, guide, or what to even do with it. I was able to find a copy of PEHDR-Lite, however for this guide, I will use CFF Explorer since it has more utility outside of editing PE Headers.

1: Install Audacity. I use 2.3.3, and you should too. It's the perfect version, 2.4+ broke things like MP3 importing and exports in lossy formats are worse.
2: Download CFF Explorer
3: Open audacity.exe in CFF Explorer.
4: Under Nt Headers, select Optional Header.
5: Change MajorOperatingSystemVersion and MajorSubsystemVersion to 0005. It should look like this
6: Save the file.
7: Install the VC++ 2015-2019 x86 runtime if you don't already have it installed.
8: Launch Audacity.
