BIOS date and time always resets on Dell Latitude e5420 after replacing battery.
The E5420 has a plastic wrapped battery holder which has a 2 pin connector connecting onto a motherboard. To replace this, you'll either need to cut back the plastic, pull off the pads and solder in a new battery (CR2032 I would guess) or order a new CMOS for these which is dirt cheap since pretty m...

Hey all, trying to shift some laptops that aren't selling on eBay so just spreading them around some other places. To save my sanity (they all have various issues and specific details) just check out my post on the ThinkPad forum here and instead of contacting me on there, it's probably best if you ...

As non cool as it is for companies to drop older OS support, who in their right mind uses chrome anyways?

Steam and older Windows pre-7?
I'm currently trying to obtain a working build of steam for XP myself, as I want to play some older games in my library but like I don't really know where to start. I have lost confidence slightly though since the last updates of steam where they changed all of the login system and stuff. Before it ...

My theory as to why Microsoft is attempting to force TPM 2.0 as a requirement for Windows 11
Well, although it MAY be for security and probably will help with security, it might be something more complex as you say. All I know is I sure goddamn hope I have TPM because those modules have gone up in price like GPU's

I tried installing Win11 Pro N on VMware WS 12, but after restarting twice, the VM boots into the VHD, shows the bootscreen, displays 'Just a moment...' on the screen and then the display goes blank. Nothing happens after that. I had the same issue, make sure you have Windows 10 selected as the OS ...

It looks like another MacOS ripoff if you ask me. I mean Microsoft surely could've done something new and unique.
Also appears to be full of even more bloatware and spyware than Windows 10 is
All of this new "revolutionary" gaming performance improving software seems bs to me too.

The 2020 ISO crashes before I can even get to anything, it doesnt last long enough to grab the error either. Update BIOS? uHHHH i mean its an old acer sandy bridge board. it also runs w10 and linux fine. think i'll just try get my hands on a product key somehow and download the iso from microsoft.

Unfortunately the 2016 one does the same, no idea why.
They both have a Win10 like loading experience too, but I'm pretty sure that's for a reason posted above in the main post with the ISO links.

I installed Windows 10 on it thinking I could back up and restore to Windows 7, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Any ideas??? The Windows 10 is activated because...

Do you have any CD's / DVDs you can write to? I have a SP3 .iso taken from a legit winxp disk if you want it.
Installing from .iso / usb rarely works on xp unless youre using a VM.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/LInux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelib...
