How are you listening?

I guess I thought the thread had "run its course", lol.

One ::: Re: bloat-free Win10 - it seems nobody is "really" interested in WinReducer EX-100 and *nobody* has used the configuration files that I provided as how I tweak/mod Win10 *2016* into a bloat-free OS that is much much MUCH better than XP per my own experiences with the two OS's.

And that is despite what appears to me is a *FAKE* download count.
Over FOUR HUNDRED DOWNLOADS but ZERO reports on if these "downloaders" have so much as even used what they downloaded.
No, these users (I have to assume) would prefer to just download a "Tiny10" ISO where the footwork was "baby-fed" for them.
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Trust me on this, I have used "Tiny10" and no offense to its development, but it is EXTREMELY BLOATED in comparison.

Two ::: Re: "how" I watch/listen - this has been a REVOLUTIONARY new way for ME to watch/listen for MY entertainment value. It SOLVES "attention-deficit" and "mind-race" and "psychomotor agitation" better than ANYTHING ever "suggested" to me over the years! The "GridMove" drag-and-drop window placement is AWESOME! Roughly 60% of the time, I watch four videos simultaneously. With the remaining 40% split evenly between either five or seven simultaneous streams. The 4, 5, and 7 scenarios work really well for maintaining "close-enough" aspect ratios.

Three ::: Re: more on "how" I watch/listen - this 4, 5, or 7 scenarios has evolved into "feeding my OCD" obscession. While technically not "clinically" defined as OCD, everybody I know labels me it and moreso than some that are "clinical". But I personally think that is HUMAN NATURE. In my view, we *ALL* have a little OCD, we *ALL* have a litte PTSD, we *ALL* have a little depression, we *ALL* have a little bi-polarism, we *ALL* have a little ADHD, we *ALL* have a little this, a little that. EVERY D#MN ONE OF US! ie, the obscession being userstyles and userscripts.

You see, we *ALL* have "triggers" in our life that result in "brain rage"! My "triggers" will not be the same as your "triggers" and vice versa. I am no bible-thumper, for lack of a better word, but I know before even saying it out loud that what "triggers" a p#ssed-off-mood for ME is not the same as many here.

I have MANY "triggers". Why do 99% of all toothpaste commercials portray a FEMALE dentist? I have never once met a FEMALE dentist in my entire life! This extremist portrayal of wokeism puts me in a p#ssed-off-mood. Why? Because I have nephews that claim they have nothing to look forward to in life, because FEMALES and minorities are being given opportunities that they are DENIED. And we wonder why BOYS want to participate in FEMALE sports! Sorry, maybe that was over-the-top.

Movies nowadays have agendas. They have become WAY too PREDICTABLE. A fight scene is about to break out between a 250 pound MALE and a 120 pound FEMALE. Predictable, predictable, predictable! The 120 pound FEMALE ***WILL*** be kicking the @ss of that 250 pound MALE. Right down to defying all laws of physics and catching his fist in mid-air. Extremist portrayal of wokeism! Got a fight scene about to break out between a 120 pound female WHITE versus a 120 pound female MINORITY. Predictable, predictable, predictable! The MINORITY is going to win! EVERY TIME! Predictable, predictable, predictable.

Sorry, but don't get me started on MALES in movies crying their eyes out! Hate it, hate it, hate it! Trigger, Trigger, Trigger. I am "entitled" to my triggers as much as the next. Userscripts and userstyles to the rescue. Gray out the two men kissing or holding hands, out of sight out of mind, I have no interest in watching. Gray it out, mute it, et cetera. All with the quick move of the mouse.

Same goes for bullets flying every where LOUD and OBNOXIOUS scenes. A quick move of the mouse and the volume is cut 80%!
Somebody about to vomit? A quick move of the mouse, blur the screen. Out of sight, out of mind.

To each their own, of course. Just saying, this new method of "how" I watch/listen has resulted in a very great deal of Peace-of-Mind. Out of sight, out of mind. Triggers? What triggers, just mute or blur or gray out. Trigger averted.

Same! My entire life I've never had a female dentist and I've even searched for one and there are none in my area so I don't know. :| My GP and mental health APRN are female, though.

A cheap-but-works new little userscript for my entertainment needs.

Netflix (and I'm sure others) will only load the first few rows of selections when the page is first loaded.
You have to manually scroll down a tad for the remainder of the page to load into view.
Back in the day, this used to be called "lazy load" for IMAGES but nowadays it isn't restricted to just img tags.

So I scroll down a tiny tad then scroll back to the top 3 and 3.5 seconds after the page loads.
Whoala! The ENTIRE PAGE loads instead of just the first few rows. YEAH!

Cheap, probably better solutions, but it works. :geek:

// ==UserScript==
// @name - Disable Lazy Load - Netflix
// @version 0.0.1
// @match https://www.netflix.com/*
// @grant none
// ==/UserScript==

(function() {

window.setTimeout( () => {
window.scrollBy(0, window.innerHeight*0.01);
}, 3000);

window.setTimeout( () => {
document.documentElement.scrollTop = 0;
}, 3500);

})();

Well, that didn't work so well afterall.
Works when you load the "browse" page the very first time, but never works again when navigating and going "back" to the browse page. :(

The person that scraps the plaque off your teeth is not the dentist.
I've never in my entire life (spanning EIGHT U.S. STATES) met a male oral hygienist.
I've never in my entire life (same EIGHT U.S. STATES) met a female dentist.

So yeah! To eh ee double hockey stick with toothpaste commercials always always always portraying a female dentist.

Reverse prejudice is still prejudice. To eh ee with all of the overboard wokeist BS.
I'm entitled to my "triggers", lol.

The-10-Pen wrote: 10 May 2025, 18:49 Instead of a "what are you listening to", how about a "HOW are you listening" post? :mrgreen:

I have a twelve year old 4th-gen i7 and I used to think that the only way to squeeze every drop of performance out of this twelve year old PC was to run XP.

BIGGEST MISTAKE I EVER MADE !!! Believing that MYTH on how awesome XP "is".
I ditched XP only just last year. I now run 2016's Win10. A tweaked and debloated self-created version using freebie tools available to ALL OF US.

I use "GridMove" and have one of my monitors set up to watch SEVEN videos ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Another monitor reading/replying to emails.
Another monitor browsing and typing this post.

Dead serious. I watch SEVEN videos all at the same time! No stuttering, no lag, no buffering delays. All seven working flawlessly!
And mouse around over custom transparent "hover" controls to pause or mute to control which "one" I am listening to.
All while watching ALL of them.
Move to a different video when one of them is on commercial break. I don't need a remote to bounce around during commercials.

I could never do that on XP !!! No new hardware, just finally ditched XP and learned how to tweak 10!

ESK.png

How the HELL did you tweak 10 to only idle at 500MB RAM? Enlighten me!!!

You must use Win "1607" and nothing newer and no updates to the original "1607".
Then start removing all of the "baggage" by using NTLite and WinReducerEX.
Then some PowerShell scripts before you ever allow an internet connection.

I technically use Win10 2016 LTSB obtained from work, but the entire process carries over verbatim to "1607".

Unsure on Server 2016 as I have never used that version of Windows.
If it is based on 1607 then I don't really see why not.
But again, purely speculative as I have no experience with Server 2016.

Disregard on 2016/1607 PowerShell scripts.
As I look closer, the only PS that I use in 1607 is to remove desktop.ini files during a post-install routine.
I use several in newer hardware laptops that run Win 21H2 due to hardware driver requirements.

Primarily added removals for Edge, Defender, Security Health, Get Started, Windows Backup, Windows Component-Based Servicing, various Task Scheduler tasks (Update Orchestrator, Defrag, Windows Updates, etc).

My 21H2 idles at 1.8GB but it is closer to 800MB-1.1GB before hardware drivers, would have to perform new install to verify.
But it was roughly 1.8GB "oem install" before any hardware so slimming it down was kind of a "break even" in the end.
But that hardware has 32GB to work with, so not as important as my 1607 hardware.

Problem is some procedures are only available in 1809 and higher, so some programs won't run on 1607.

None of that applies to me.
Only thing I ever encountered that requires 1809 is Microsoft's PowerToys (for FancyZones feature).
To me, that means DO WITHOUT and find a DIFFERENT program instead (I'm using GridMove for that FancyZones feature).
Sure, there will be a day when I can no longer use 1607. Same as when I was on XP for so long.

But for now, that day is not here and having a Win10 that only idles at 500MB RAM is **WAY** more useful to me. :)

My 2016 (and 2015) process did not work on Server 2016 - installation stalls at a license not found error.
No time to debug as I do not use Server 2016 and don't really see the need to invest more of my time into it at the moment.
I may return to it... Eventually... I may not... No real clue at this stage with only "one" interested party.

I just obtained a LTSB install instead, and stripped it down with my own mods (Superfetch off, Defender and Updates disabled, couldn't get NTLite working for some reason) and optimised Edge to only use 400MB RAM with YT open.

I'll upload my LTSB files later this afternoon.
Note that "what works for me" is *several* passes.
First pass is a limited-algorithm WinReducerEX and *then* it goes through a pass with NTLite.
This remove items that cannot be removed with WinReducerEX alone.
I didn't debug into why. NTLite would only "work for me" AFTER it went through a WinReducerEX pass.

Actually, looks like there is no need.

My 32GB RAM machine idles at 1GB also, so you are "already there".
Processes: 36
Threads: 562
Handles: 11,963

My 16GB RAM machines idle at less.
Which is I guess kind of what Windows is "supposed to do".

I'd kind of have to reinstall from the ground up to verify.
But I'm thinking my OS even on 32GB machines idles at 500 to 650 MB or so *BEFORE* adding hardware drivers.
Once all the drivers are in place, them I idle at 1GB.
So mileage really kind of depends on hardware and just what hardware you're okay with not being "recognized".
