Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards for Vista/XP x64?

Unread post by Jevil7452 »

Hello, I'm looking for some WiFi/Bluetooth devices that can be used on Vista (main target), or even XP x64 (would be nice, but not necessary)
Does anyone have a suggestion for what could be used? (I'm fine with using USB devices too)

What happens if it's used on a device that already has built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth? Does it require buying a separate ISP subscription? Does it get separate drivers from the drivers of the built in network adapter or is it incompatible in that case?

No

It most probably has separate drivers from the built in one, i dont really know why youd need 2 network and bluetooth adapters but the ones that are built in are probably going to be more powerful as these are usb 2.0 (for vista and xp support)

I ended up looking a bit myself (by I, I really mean ChatGPT) and I found these two:
Wi-Fi: D-LINK DWA-566. Drivers can be downloaded from https://www.dlink.com/uk/en/products/dwa-566-wireless-n-300-dual-band-pci-express-desktop-adapter
Bluetooth: ASUS BT400 USB. Drivers can be downloaded from https://www.asus.com/pl/supportonly/usb-bt400/helpdesk_download/
I confirmed from a quick glance by looking at the contents of the drivers that there indeed are 64-bit Windows XP/Vista drivers for these.

I've done testing with the Bluetooth adapter and you have to use the Windows 7 download, version 6.5.1.6000. There's also a 6.5.1.6930 available, but it doesn't have working Bluetooth Audio (really important for me)

I guess I've said it wrong. I meant the driver 6.5.1.6930 doesn't work with Bluetooth Audio. But 6.5.1.6000 works correctly, with Bluetooth Audio.
