LibreWolf for Windows 7 & 8
I saw there is a new LibreWolf build in this repo: https://github.com/adeii/supermium-portable/releases/tag/F1235
I don't know if the build maker has tried to add the same hotfix for video as in R3dfox as I suggested here: https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=4833#p4833
but if he did, then it doesn't work
Plus the browser is now slower than previous version in this speed test: https://browserbench.org/Speedometer3.0/

Two videos that are showing the problem I'm talking about:
https://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2024/03/28/all-angles-and-all-opinions-bagnaia-and-m-marquez-portimao-collision/493446
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/watch-ride-onboard-with-verstappen-for-his-pole-position-lap-at-suzuka.7vKOe1zDIIYliR0Fh829zd
Same error message, I think it occurs when the player tries to automatically change the video resolution. If you quicky pause the video and select a resolution to force it to be used, then no error message and the video is playing fine.
This behaviour doesn't occur in R3dfox 124.0.3-hotfix, no need to force a resolution the player automatically selects the best one without any problems, as expected.

Hmm, I fixed something similar in the hotfix that a user was having under Windows 11. I haven't heard anyone else reporting it before so I assumed it was weird Windows 11 issue. Does the non hotfix release have the same problem?

Yes, that's the problem I was talking about here: https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=4617#p4617
and there: https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=4619#p4619
I still have these error messages in about:support of LibreWolf 124.0.1-1 and some earlier R3dfox versions:
GP+[GFX1-]: [D3D11] 2 CreateTexture2D failure Size: Size(960,540)texture11: false Code: 0x80070057
GP+[GFX1-]: [D3D11] 2 CreateTexture2D failure Size: Size(1280,720)texture11: false Code: 0x80070057
GP+[GFX1-]: [D3D11] 2 CreateTexture2D failure Size: Size(960,540)texture11: false Code: 0x80070057
GP+[GFX1-]: [D3D11] 2 CreateTexture2D failure Size: Size(1280,720)texture11: false Code: 0x80070057
But they are gone from R3dfox 124.0.3-hotfix, I don't see any of them anymore.
FYI no error messages either in R3dfox 122.0.1 and playback is fine.

Oh. I guess I didn't understand your problem. Someone trying my browser on 11 was more helpful and I realized what the issue was and was able to fix it.

I guess I could ask him to make a 124.0.3 based Librewolf release, or I could just add the Librewolf patches to r3dfox to invalidate the need for it.

IMHO R3dfox and LibreWolf are two different approaches, that's why I'm using both.
R3dfox is just like Firefox to me, it works and behaves the same, whilst LibreWolf has specific security settings and some of its options are locked to enforce privacy.
So the simplest and fastest thing to do would be to apply your R3dfox hotfix patch to LibreWolf, I'm quite sure it will fix the problem.

The future idea for r3dfox is to remove telemetry while still having similar privacy settings to stock Firefox as to not break website compatibility. I guess they would be kinda different, but only different as in one has a good user js config stock and the other is default.

Remove telemetry is a good idea, of course. But don't lock Enhanced Tracking Protection or cookies like LibreWolf does.
Keep in mind people will use R3dfox as a modern Firefox replacement on Windows 7 & 8, so IMHO it must behaves as close as Firefox will do. Whilst LibreWolf is really dedicated to privacy but it doesn't work fine on some sites.
Both browsers must exist side by side

So I've tried https://github.com/adeii/supermium-portable/releases/download/F1235/librewolf-portable-win32-124.0.1.7z uploaded 1 hour ago as I'm typing this.
But Librewolf.exe modification date is 25 march, the only files which have been updated are lgpllibs.dll (06 APR) and xul.dll (11 APR). Result: no change, same breakage of the video playback with the same error messages on screen and in about:support that I've reported above.
I haven't tried https://github.com/adeii/supermium-portable/releases/download/F1235/librewolf-portable-win64-124.0.1-1.7z because it's 4 days old and it's the one I'm actually using.
Looking at the "changelog" https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox/issues/10#issuecomment-2050181130
I'm not sure the R3dfox hotfix patch has been applied.
Anyway, thanks for the effort.

I don't know what has been done, but the video playback problem seems to be solved with latest build of LibreWolf 125.0.2-1 by Adeii
I still got some error messages in about:support but it doesn't appear to be a problem for now:
(#1) Error CompositorBridgeChild receives IPC close with reason=AbnormalShutdown
(#2) CP+[GFX1-]: CompositorBridgeChild receives IPC close with reason=AbnormalShutdown
Happy!

about:config is broken in latest LibreWolf 126.0-1 by Adeii:
LibreWolf can’t find the file at jar:file:///E:/Internet/Librewolf/librewolf/omni.ja!/chrome/toolkit/content/global/config.xhtml.
I believe it's because of this change since R3dfox and LibreWolf are sharing some files:
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=5001#p5001
And that's the reason why you should keep the original names for the original default features and use custom names for your own personal variations of the browsers.

They should just build Librewolf instead of making a weird hodgepodge.

True, but I still believe it's a bad idea to use the Firefox default names for anything else than Firefox default features.

Thanks for librewolf-portable-129.0.2-x64-win7.7z
But FYI the "\LibreWolf\browser\omni.org" file and "\LibreWolf\browser\omni" and "\LibreWolf\browser\omnired" folders are useless and can be removed because they take a lot of space in the archive

Version 130.0-3 of LibreWolf has problems. After updating, it changed many of my settings and enabled Sync, Google Safe Browsing and some telemetry, and added an Account icon in the toolbar even though the Firefox Account is disabled.
When launching it, it also automatically connects itself to some sites:
o.pki.goog → Google OCSP, never happened before
ocsp.r2m02.amazontrust.com → Amazon OSCP, never happened before
contile.services.mozilla.com → never used before
spocs.getpocket.com → Pocket is disabled by default in the policies.json file from the distribution folder, how come it's now being used ?
I never had such troubles with previous versions. Looks like some things are borked. TBH I don't trust this build, I'm using LibreWolf for security and high privacy and this build is somehow acting like Firefox with some default settings.
I'm back to v129.0.2 for now.

After more investigations I think I've found the reason of the problem.
With librewolf-130.0-3-win7-x64-portable.7z in LibreWolf\defaults\pref folder there are now two new files which weren't there with older versions:
autoconfig.js
config-prefs.js
After restoring a v129.0.2 full backup, upgrading to v130 and removing these new .js files before running LibreWolf everything is back to normal behavior. Settings are not resetted and no strange unwanted connections anymore.
Have a look at that because it's not normal to override the policies.json file from the distribution folder and/or the default librewolf.cfg.

With the new LibreWolf build 131.0.2-1:
https://github.com/adeii/supermium-portable/releases/download/F130/librewolf-131.0.2-1-x64-portable-win7.7z
The problem with HLS videos is back
It's been explained in this post:
https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=4871#p4871
Same behavior and same workaround, the error occurs when the player tries to automatically change the video resolution. If you quickly pause the video and force a video resolution then no error message and the video is playing fine.
It was fine with previous build v130, so it looks like if LibreWolf isn't built with the R3dfox libraries we have this problem.

After reading this post: https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?p=5456#p5456
I've tried with media.wmf.dxva.d3d11.enabled set to false and the problem doesn't occur anymore. But the quality is worse than with D3D11 and it also uses much more CPU.
So the issue is definitely linked to D3D11 and it looks like K4sum1 has found some magic trick for D3D11 to work fine in R3dfox.

Oh, I think I know why. I didn't make 131 yet. I have no idea what this is using.
I'll need to get around to making 131. Maybe Mozilla broke something major with this again.

That tracking SDK was from what I can tell only in the mobile versions. So I don't think it matters here.

I should be getting 131 out tomorrow. I did take a look at this 131 to see if I could determine how it was built, and I understand what the issue is. So they took stock 131 and rely on the user to use VxKex I think. Well Firefox started using DX 11.1 features for GPU acceleration in 123. This can't exactly be kernel extended or patched out, only solution is to undo it and build. So that makes sense on why it would not work.

Yes and R3dfox had the D3D11 problem too but you fixed it in R3dfox 124.0.3-hotfix:

Yes, I undid it and GPU acceleration works. They appear to be working with Firefox source without this modification. Therefore it not working on their version.Duke wrote: ↑21 Oct 2024, 20:26Yes and R3dfox had the D3D11 problem too but you fixed it in R3dfox 124.0.3-hotfix:
