This is something I was researching, I couldn't find much about it, until I found this. Audacity versions up to 3.0.2 work on XP if you use PEHDR-Lite. However, there's no link to the program, guide, or what to even do with it. I was able to find a copy of PEHDR-Lite, however for this guide, I will use CFF Explorer since it has more utility outside of editing PE Headers. 1: Install Audacity. I use 2.3.3, and you should too. It's the perfect version, 2.4+ broke things like MP3 importing and exports in lossy formats are worse. 2: Download CFF Explorer 3: Open audacity.exe in CFF Explorer. 4: Under Nt Headers, select Optional Header. 5: Change MajorOperatingSystemVersion and MajorSubsystemVersion to 0005. It should look like this 6: Save the file. 7: Install the VC++ 2015-2019 x86 runtime if you don't already have it installed. 8: Launch Audacity. |
