Is post editing disabled and is that intentional? There is no button for it

Oh I think this is a result of some moderation changes I made. I didn't expect normal users to encounter it. I'm going to have to try to remember what I changed.

Limit for editing a post should be 24 hours max anyway.
For security reasons, to avoid butchering of threads by some angry user, and to avoid spam.

Except when:
- You maintain a list of some programs like last versions of software that work on some OS or a tutorial that changes as version of software change
- You are a creator of some software and want to keep the main post updated with info about the latest version
- You want to replace a dead link
- You want to to add info that a superior solution to the one you suggested has been created

Problem is in phpBB it's a global setting, it can't be a per user setting AFAIK.
And to add a new post always attract more attention than editing an old one
