In the interest of completeness, this is r3dfox 140.6.0 esr.
TWICE as fast as 360Chrome/Mypal68/Mypal74 (and also higher RAM), but still slower than modern versions of Chrome.

It was the same as any other week, so, meh.

I feel abandoned though still I feel like I did something wrong to chase them away. I have 1 online friend I chat with most every day and without him I'd be very lonely. I know this is a busy time of year for some folks that need to buy gifts ... so glad I don't have to do that.
I don't miss that forum, it died long time ago, in my eyes at least.

How do you even find things to chat about?

This thing with gifts and such feels so forced and fake to me. Every year, it's the same shit over and over again. All the wishes and then the new year that isn't any better than the year before that and the year before that and the...
xperceniol_sal wrote: 17 Dec 2025, 01:09 Ok, its about 8:10PM and I plan to watch TV and maybe play some games on the computers. This computer is on its last legs and its 'any day' for it. I do have my Dell Dimension 3000 that is in great shape because it doesn't get much use, but with only 2 GB of RAM its hard to enjoy anything worth while and adjusting the pagefile doesn't seem to do much so I let the XP handle the pagefile. Browsing the web is tricky. I use Arctic Foxie 360 and Mypal68.14.7 on that one as I plan to stick with XUL for the foreseeable future. Someday they want me on a smart phone and I don't want one ... I'd prefer to keep my ancient flip phone for the rest of my life but the association doesn't like people to use a computer and I'm one of very few allowed to do such here and I know not to break the trust.
I use that one laptop with 2 GB of RAM occasionally. I put Linux Mint on it recently, swapping starts quickly. One or two tabs in a web browser and the RAM is gone. I didn't try turning on zswap yet.

You've been saying your computer is on its last legs for a while now. I noticed in recent times with the laptop, when you turn it on, some white horizontal line appears briefly on the screen. Sometimes it happens when moving the screen / lid.

Strange place you ended up at...

I'm shocked it is still working at all. I have numerous bad sectors and I frequently get memory errors (3GB) and I have to shut down the program I was using to start all over again. The power supply gets so hot you can fry an egg on it lol. Its very old and its been though hell actually and many many brownouts. Sometimes I have to restart the computer after it crashes to the desktop after playing any heavy game. I can't complain as I didn't pay for it, it was gift from my brother and for that reason I keep it going with corrupt system files and I don't have the energy to rebuild XP and I tried Vista and it won't support it. I can go online and print but that is about it most days.

I can't complain when it comes to computers.
I've been using them for close to FORTY YEARS but throughout that ENTIRE time span, I've only BOUGHT *three*.
And one of those three was a laptop from a PAWN SHOP not even a year ago (ie, some rich kid pawned it, I landed it for HALF its new-price).
And I currently have SEVEN. More FREEBIES over the years than I've ever bought.
Then there are the FREEBIES that weren't even worth putting to use or only lasted me a year or so because they were "free for a reason".

I'm one of those guys that believes in PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY.
And extends that to *ALL* of us, no matter our 'poverty level' or "fortune", **CAN** "afford" a computer -- ALL OF US !!!
But it will be different for all of us.
Some of us can smoke half what we smoke and use the savings to fund that computer in a few months (I didn't say days).
Some of us can put down the "bottle" and use the savings in a few months.
Some of us can cut down on fast food and restaurants.
There is ALWAYS something.

The *only* "affordability crisis" that I see is the "have not's" thinking they should be living like kings and queens!
No! Learn to live within your means and learn to be happy with that!
I'm a "have not". But I am a HAPPY "have not" that REFUSES to "point blame" at ANYONE "richer than me".
But sure, yeah, you don't make life any "better" by "kicking those already down" either.

Be happy WHERE YOU ARE AT. Take OWNERSHIP of WHERE YOU ARE AT.
STOP comparing yourself to those "above you".
STOP comparing yourself to those "beneath you".

But anywhooo...

I wouldn't be at peace if the disk with an OS was broken.
