Introduce yourselves here!
Hello,
you may remember me from MSFN (Was Mr.Scienceman2000 before). If anyone ever wondered what happened to me I got hurt pretty badly and been trying recover then broke down again and loop goes on
. I am still kicking though and try get all out from life I can. These days I give in more times for things I love like music, driving around and working with legacy hardware. If accident taught me one thing it is that enjoy now don't wait to enjoy later as later may never come. Even though I never will be on shape I was before I believe it is worth it to keep going as long as you are breathing. To quote Cave Johnson from portal 2:
I intend to bring my cynical atti...I mean knowledge for this forum too
. It is quite nice forum and I am happy to see how younger people are interested in older technology in this board.

I will be hopping around this and MSFN depending on mood, though I do prefer this forum since it runs great under Retrozilla under Windows 9x and Power Macintosh G4."When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons!"

Hoot Hoot!

I'm sorry you got hurt and I"m glad you're recovering. Glad to have you here at eclipse and I (of course) remember you very well and you once joked in the cafe about not getting coffee in a timely matter lol.
Sadly I can no longer log in to MSFN anymore because they changed the log in form screen name to email and I haven't the slightest idea of what email I used when I joined in 2018 so I'm locked out. Looks very quiet from when we were active there in comparison; though.
Anyways ... wishing you well on your recovery and I hope better days are ahead.

PS: Glad you used the same avatar
EDIT: Just noticed a typo - sorry.

Hello there,
My name's Benjamin, I'm a half british traveler better used to offline communities and communitarian work - not much social networks investment on my side -, and I've came to know R3dfox while searching for alternative software to fuel my old school rigs ; some of which have been running since the 90s, mostly under Windows XP x86 and 7 x64. That little red thing looks fairly good for now and I enjoyed the discussions I read around, so I'll add some questions for all techno-enthousiasts...
Speaking of which, I don't possess better computering knowledge than what any amateur picks when he fiddles with files, parameters and issues for decades, trying to understand how things work, but one of my (more) professional activity relates to proofreading, translations and editorial designs. So, even though automated methods abound nowadays and that internet-based activities aren't my speciality, I'll try to help if someone needs a peek at any kind of idea, text or design... Feel free to drop me a word !

Hi, I'm an 18 y/o albanian who loves old stuff in general, old cars, music, computers, stuff like that. I'm pretty shy and might not be able to be active all the time, but I'll try my best to be an active member. I've always wanted to experience what it's like to be part of an active forum, and I hope to make a lot of friends. (that probably won't happen tho
) Anyways, that's it. If you wanna learn more about me I've placed some more info on my bio. Bye for now. :3

Look into STUDEBAKER !!!
The thing to think about when diving into OLD CARS is like what a coworker told me years ago when I said I liked Julia Roberts.
His reply was, "Do you? Or do you just like her because Hollywood tells everyone to like her?"
I don't remember his exact words.
But it ties in with OLD CARS.
ie, something like "Do you like Corvettes? Or are you just liking what everybody else says you should like?"
Me? I *hate* Corevettes. I *hate* Bel Airs. I *hate* Mustangs.
Okay, "hate" is not the right word.
Point is, don't like something just because everyone else likes it.
Me? Give me a STUDEBAKER HAWK or AVANTI.
Only 19,000 Hawk's were made in 1956.
Only 3,800 Avanti's were made in 1963.
Compared to 105,000 Bel Air's in 1956.
Or 21,500 Corvette's in 1963.
ie, do you "like" the Bel Air? Or is it just something you "remember" because it was JAMMED DOWN OUR THROATS by MASS PRODUCTION, a DIME A DOZEN because they are ALL OVER THE PLACE?

This post really resonates with me, as someone who prefers the less popular stuff in general. I don't really tell most people what I really like because I'm always afraid that I'm gonna be made fun of for not following the crowd. Hell, I've even had people say that I "hate everything popular" multiple times, just because I thought that some things were overrated. It's gotten so bad to the point that I have to LIE about my preferences, just to stop being treated like a moron, which is wrong but I can't really do anything about it.The-10-Pen wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025, 05:31Look into STUDEBAKER !!!

There's nothing I particularly like to the point it'd be even worth talking about, so I don't have that problem.

Most Mustangs are not special, especially the modern ones. But the Shelby GT350 from 1965-66 and maybe 1967 IS special!

I never owned either.
But did own a Plymouth Horizon (twin to Omni).
42 miles to the gallon on a rebuilt carbureted non-turbo in the late 80s!
I tried to buy a Shelby Charger a decade or so ago.
Rented a truck and went three states away to look at it.
The seller picked me up and we were heading to the barn where it was stored.
The idiot was speeding, passing SCHOOL BUSES when kids were being dropped off, never stopped at stop signs!
I JUMPED OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF HIS CAR !!!
Was walking the street of an UNKNOWN TOWN trying to find where the place we agreed to meet.
